Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag has urged the BCCI selectors to consider a comeback for veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has been in sensational form during IPL 2026.
At 36, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has rediscovered his rhythm, picking up 17 wickets in just nine matches for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. His consistent performances have made him one of the standout bowlers this season.
Speaking on Cricbuzz, Sehwag said that age should not be a barrier if a player is delivering strong performances. He suggested that Bhuvneshwar could be considered again for India’s T20I squad.
Sehwag also highlighted the successful partnership between Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar in the past, questioning whether the duo could reunite to strengthen India’s bowling attack.
Bhuvneshwar has taken at least three wickets in four of RCB’s last five matches, climbing to the top of the Purple Cap standings. He has already matched his IPL 2025 tally of 17 wickets in just nine games this season.
He recently achieved a major milestone, becoming the first Indian pacer and the second Indian overall to reach 350 wickets in T20 cricket.
In 325 T20 matches, Bhuvneshwar has taken 352 wickets at an average of 24.51, including multiple four-wicket and five-wicket hauls. Only Yuzvendra Chahal has taken more T20 wickets among Indian bowlers.
